As a constituent and community member, I urge you to take immediate action to stop tearing apart immigrant families at the border and in Iowa.It has been shocking and heartbreaking to watch our government tearing crying children away from their parents; parents who have overcome impossible odds to flee violence and bring their families to safety. It was equally alarming to see federal ICE agents descend on the peaceful Iowa community of Mt. Pleasant with helicopters, dogs, and tasers to target unarmed workers. In our small Iowa towns, we depend on each other. Just one family in crisis can affect the whole community. The Mt. Pleasant raid left children without parents, it traumatized families, friends, and neighbors, and caused lasting damage to the economy.

These policies are wrong for our nation and for Iowa. They don't make us more safe; they destabilize our communities. They don't help our jobs or economies; terrified workers are more vulnerable to abuse and raids hurt fragile economies. Immigrant families have strengthened our state, and breathed new life into many struggling small communities. As your constituent I ask that you take immediate and public action to:

-Reunite the thousands of children with their parents at the border
-Stop the raids that are tearing Iowa families and communities apart
-Investigate ICE and Customs/Border Patrol and hold them accountable
-Demand just immigration reform with a path to citizenship and workers' rights protections
